Styles is another New York rapper who's part of LOX. He has also been part of several disputes with other rappers just like Jadakiss. Styles has signed with Diddy records and released several albums but the best ones still must be the ones featuring D Block.
In our opinion, Styles P "The Ghost" has the best flow on D- Block. Listen to "I'm in it to win it" and "Real Ghostly". He was the last one to join the trio but he is a huge asset to the group. His experience in the streets keeps the tracks raw.
His most famous song "Get High" has been a soundtrack for many movies, and episodes, but don't forget to checkout his new dope album Master of ceremonies.
Jada is one third of d-block and lox; his way of putting words together is adequately outstanding. Most listeners don't even realize how amazing his flow is until someone points certain parts of his verse. It's mainly due to the use of metaphors and similes. Jada uses these to put a twist into his lyrics and give people a little something to think about, but that's part of hip hop. One of our favorite Jada lines are, "hommie i'm in the hood like bootleg movies, hommie you can't move me!"
Jada just like most rappers has had several disputes with other rap artists, when it comes to dissing people Jada and DMX are the people to reach out too. Jada didn't start any sort of beef with 50, but 50 released a track dissing him and Fat Joe. Jada came back releasing 5 different tracks dissing 50 and this dispute kept continuing for few years as both rappers kept taking shots at each other through several tracks. Jada's best track dissing 50 is obviously "checkmate," as he brings all sorts of negative factors regarding 50 and exposes him as well. He mentions, "You can never be the king of NY, cuz you live in Connecticut."
this dispute was later resolved on one of 50's "ThisIs50" videos which is listed on youtube.
Check out the freestyle on the right and you'll be able to tell Jada has skill and his way with words is unpredictable.
Sheek Louch has been recognized for stayin true to the essence of hip hop and comin thru with quality tracks that are always approved by the streets. He's confident on the mic when he's killin it since he's been doin it from a young age and his skills have just been developing ever since as he doesn't stray off the path of real hip hop.
He was inspired to rap by Jadakiss and just started as Jadakiss used to rap when they chylled together. Soon after, Styles P came and joined and they formed a group with the 3 of them.
Sheek's always been thinking about how to make everything bigger. He's a business minded rapper and he's been making D-Block bigger through some planning and his base skills of rapping. He builds the rep of his own abilities and D-Block together, stayin true to hip hop. Check out some of Sheek's work:
If you take a deep look into his lyrics you'll see where he comes from and his ability as a lyricist. He is a big element of D-Block although he's not as well known as the other two members.
D Block officilaly launched in 03 comin' from the underground rap game but ever since then, they been keepin' their tracks true to hip hop ever since. D Block has three members: Styles P, Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch. Each of these artists bring their own unique style to the group and when this three headed beast is together on a track its bound to wreak havoc. D-Block has beef with 50 and his G-unit gang and you'll always her em dissin thru their tracks.
They started out in Yonkers, New York when they were in high school callin' themselves "The Bomb Squad". Together they deliver fierce lyrics and they've been known to rap about what's goin on with the street life accurately as they were livin' it. The later changed their name to "The Warlocks" and then finally "The LOX" which is known as D-Block today. LOX stands for Living Off eXperience which is what they rap about to keep their music real.
Take a real listen to feel it in the air and maybe even take a look at a few of their other tracks and you'll get a feel of how real D-Block is.
Nasty Nas is a name everyone's heard, Nas has been rappin since 91 and he's goin at it 20 years later. He's from Queensbridge, New York and isn't the first from his family either, his father was also a musician for the kind of jazz, Olu Dara. At one point in his life he decided to join a group The Firm but only released one album with them called Illmatic in 93.
Nas dropped out of school in the eighth grade but if you take a look at him today, you can only say that he's a successful artist. He began writin' rhymes since he was nine and his rhymes styll kill it today. His albums are always a true product of hip hop and he's tryna bring hip hop back. He keeps his raps street and most people have hear NY state of mind by nas but check out these other tracks by him as well. His creativity and ability to put rhymes together keeps his tracks deep and real, far from all that mainstream bullshit. If you close your eyes and jus listen to Project windows you can imagine everything he's talkin about and that's just a true example of his creativity comin' to life.
A few years ago Nas was in a huge dispute with jay z, both of these artists went at it for a while through tracks constantly dissing each other. However, they both later peaced it out in a radio station in NYC. Nas has a determined mind as he's constantly releasing albums when he gets a chance, his latest album was relased in 2010 and everyone's heard of it as "Distant Relatives", it's an collaboration with nas and damian marley. He's also workin' on another album right now with other people incudin RZA and Dr. Dre just to mention a few. His music is powerful and keeps hip hop afloat.
Germaine Williams AKA Can-I-Bus. Canibus is a true lyrical murderer, his vocabulary is what attracts many listeners he has talked a lot about how he has vocabulary which no one has. However, his vocabulary got him to the top in the mid 90's but these days the majority dislike him cause his lyrics are to extensive. His lyrics are what truly amaze everyone, he doesn't use any normal words that most artists do, he has the ability to go into and explain his own lyrics through his songs, which is quite complex, and time consuming.
Canibus hasn't been rappin' properly since the end of 2009 cause he believes that most people don't understand his lyrics; he's just been releasing few things, and it is true as many comments and votes say his vocabulary doesn't make sense.
Canibus has had beef with several artists, the main one being Eminem, even though Eminem is an amazing artist and all, but sometimes even the greatest get owned lyrically, check this track out by Canibus he's dissing Eminem - if your one of those listeners that don't give a shyt about the lyrics don't listen to this, cause his vocabulary is off the hook
Canibus has even been enlisted in the army in 2002 because he wanted to do somethin different than what he's been doin in his teens do give a little definition to his life. He's a true lyrical genius as he puts words together in such a complex way that its almost impossible to compete.
Phong Nguyen AKA Chuckie Akenz is one of the very few rappers who have been recognized around his hood of Jane and Finch. Akenz is a Vietnamese rapper who moved into Finch at a young age and basically grew up there, he has a few close hommies such as Burnz who he also brings into his tracks.
Akenz spits about what's real and true in his life; he doesn't talk about being rich or having cars and shyt he just spits about he is going to achieve his goals one day. Akenz has been through several robberies, fights, brawls, drug deals etc..... and therefore, has had so much experience and knows what he's talking about in his rhymes unlike most other rappers.
This hood chin been keepin Toronto rap alive along with Camo and since we're from Canada as most of you are we wanna keep you updated on local talent that stays true to hip hop.
